seriously people?

now i love my president (even after that shitty ass ipod gift for the queen mother..really barack? what the hell were you thinking?). and i love my fried chicken. but curling up with a bucket of greased up pollo while i watch the state of the union address is about as close as i want these two entities to connect with each other. that's just me. apparently, not everyone feels that way. check out these two links...

the gothamist

the smoking gun

what the fuck? this isn't quite as bad as when south of the border debuted the obama chicken platter (one piece of dark meat, one piece of white meat...haha, NOT!), but seriously, what the fuck? do people really think this is the intelligent way to honor the first black president or do they just want to make a quick buck? dumb clucks...

celebrity presidential pledge

hi barack

mr. obama,

congratulations on your succesful inauguration. it was a kick-ass ceremony. we pretty much got no work done in my office on tuesday because we were watching you via internet. it was definitely a beautiful moment for you, your family, and for the united states of america and i was overjoyed to witness it.

day 1 has come and gone, and you've already tackled guantanamo and political ethics issues, among other things. you're going to rock. it's not going to be easy, but you are going to go down as one of the great ones. you will not fail and we will not fail you. it's too important. you are too important. we look to you now, but you remind us to look within ourselves to find the solutions to our problems. you remind us that we are the ones who must take control of our destiny and make our country and the world the place, not that it once was, but as we've always believed it should be. united, equal, just.

so when you are tired and it seems as if there is no more hope to be had, turn to us. turn to your people and we will stand beside you and help usher this great nation out of a lifetime of dreams and into a new reality.

we got this barack.

can't take the pressure?

drinking game!

drink whenever the words 'caucus' or 'battleground' is mentioned.

add more words as you see fit.

enjoy!

blue stays blue red stays red

and john mccain's dreams will soon be dead.

obama's got the lead back. c'mon battleground states!!

lol, perhaps i should stop drinking. but can you blame me?

my kind of candidate

with the pressure of the nation on his shoulders this afternoon, barack obama took a step back - and drained the three. that's right. obama took some time out to clear his head with a game of basketball on chicago's west side with a group of friends. i love this man.

and if you don't like that, you don't like nba basketball!

so technically obama is behind...

...kentucky's 8 electoral votes to vermont's 3. but no worries, if you've seen glory road you knew obama wasn't taking kentucky.

just a reminder...

...of why you don't want to vote mccain-palin

palin prank story
palin prank audio

darn "gotcha media"!

so karl rove predicts obama in a landslide

should i be happy about this? or very, very scared?

i'm not sure.

btw, excuse me in advance for my very short, random posts today. i am entirely too excited and anxious to focus my energy on one entry, lol.

this was supposed to be published about 2 hours ago but blogger erased it, thanks

just got in from voting. stood in line for about an hour. and loved every second of it. no complaining. no grumbling. all smiles. very proud of my parkchester neighbors.

also proud of dixville notch and hart's location, two small new hampshire towns who kicked off Election Day 2008 at midnight. these tiny towns have given obama an early lead in the popular vote, combining for a 32-16 vote in obama's favor. this is particularly impressive, given a strong history of republican support from the two towns.

now its your turn. vote. si se puede! yes we can!

8:39am

barack obama casts his own ballot with his daughter by his side. a proud moment.

bring your kids with you to the polls. stress to them how important this is. make sure that this monumental turnout we are seeing is not a one-time thing. the children are our future. make sure they understand their responsibility.

a closer look at joe plumber

no offense to ohio plumber joe wurzelbacher, but fuck joe plumber. i mean, as far as i can tell he's hard working guy with a good head on his shoulders and reasonable fears about his future well-being. in an internet interview conducted shorty after meeting barack obama, mr. wurzelbacher quite intelligently pointed out concerns he had with what could become a genuine flaw in some of obama's proposed programs. he stated, “you start giving people stuff, and then they start expecting it — and that scares me." and you know what? he's right. i've seen enough people mooch off of government funded programs to know that you have to be careful who you help, what kind of help you provide, and how you judge if they have earned that help. good point joe. if these programs are put into place they will have to be closely monitored and policed to avoid abuse and curb possible corruption. and, to the best of my knowledge, obama has admitted this and pledged to do just that. moving along...

see the real problem is that after that semi-intelligent train of thought, joe descended into a right-wing mindset, basically comparing obama's proposed plans to socialism. he felt that though he wants all people to have health care, it isn't his problem to make sure they do. really joe? so let me get this straight. you think that we should vote for a president who supports letting a man whose business makes him over $250,000 a year and a working father making about $40,000 annually fight it out on the same playing field? umm...fuck you joe plumber. enjoy your 15 minutes of fame and shut up.

and guess who the joe plumber's of the america hire when they need someone to work long hours for low wages? illegal immigrants. who won't get the health care mccain is proposing and will take jobs away from working americans. you know it. i know it. cut the shit.

my personal opinion? if i get taxed a little more (and i won't under obama's plan, and neither will you unless i'm really popular and millionaires are now reading this blog) so that children and the elderly can live healthier lives, so that we can put a greater focus on our children's educations, so that we can give those who are lagging behind the tools to better themselves and, in turn, better our country then go right ahead. and if you think that's socialism then call me john marx. it's close enough to my name anyway.

bravery in the face of ignorance

i really can't imagine being barack obama. i can't imagine campaigning across the country. i can't imagine kissing babies and shaking hands. i can't imagine orating speech after speech in front of huge crowds. and i can't even begin to imagine having to defend my patriotism because of my name. or the color of my skin. or who my friends are. i can't imagine having the cover of a national magazine parody the appearance and beliefs of my wife and myself. i can't imagine the united states election system "mistakenly" confusing my name with that of the mastermind of the largest terrorist attack in the history of my country. and i can't imagine doing all of that with a singular though in my head - today might be the day i die.

you all do realize this, right? barack obama is the first black presidential nominee of a major party. jesse jackson he is not. in less than one month this man may just be the president of these united states. and as much hope and optimism as this may bring for so many us, it also stimulates an equal amount of hate and fear in a great number of our fellow americans. and this is why i am almost positive that, despite the overpowering dedication and passion that it takes for any person to run for the most powerful seat in the land, barack obama is contantly haunted by that thought - today might be the day i die. and it could be. hate and fear are strong emotions, especially when mixed with ignorance and stupidity. there are people in this country who do not want to see barack obama in the white house for one reason and one reason only. why? let's just say they want to keep it a 'white' house. and many of those people feel they have an obligation to keep this from happening. and for some, that obligation goes beyond the voting booth. i am relatively certain that there are people in this country who will do whatever it takes to prevent obama from taking office in washington. they believe he will taint, dishonor, and even destroy our nation. and i am utterly fearful of the lengths they will go to to prevent this.

so the next time you see barack obama smiling for the cameras, giving a speech, spending quality time with his wife and daughters, or just being - try to comprehend how much courage that takes. just to be him. i can't imagine...

mccain vs. obama part 2

now i'm not an overly political individual, but i do feel it is incredibly important to perform our civil duties responsibly. i also feel it is imperative to keep myself informed on issues that i deem relevant to my life. so even though i know for a fact i am voting for barack obama, i thought that i should pay our political system the respect it deserves (not that it deserves much respect) and watch at least one of the presidential debates.

i'm going to be honest, i didn't really care to listen to what either candidate said about the issues. they have both proven to be long-winded and not entirely honest or forthcoming on the issues. and i don't blame them. in today's society where every word can become a sound bite and every move is over-scrutinized, it is better for a candidate to fill his/her public appearances with plenty of glad handing, empty rhetoric, and loosely constructed half-truths. i've tried my best to investigate the facts to become as informed as i can be on the issues i care about and feel i am sufficiently taken care of in that department.

the one thing i took away from the debate was that i hate john mccain. not exactly an original thought these days, i know. and it's not as if i've ever had a strong affinity to him. but last night i saw something completely different in john mccain. maybe it's because i never paid much attention to him to begin with, but i never realized dude was such an agitating smartass.

from referring to a senator of the united states as "that one" to telling a young african-american man of about college age that he'd probably never heard of fannie mae or freddie mac prior to the current economic upheaval, mccain showed himself to be an arrogant prick. his continued cheap shots at obama and the democratic party combined with his veritable sucking up to moderator tom brokaw left me at a loss for words. my only comparison for him is a child in the school yard that calls his classmates names and picks fights, but only when he is just out of earshot of the teacher but in close enough proximity to guarantee that he cant get his ass whooped. i give barack all the credit in the world for not smacking that man in the face.

john mccain, you are an asshole.
